Our Classes
Ballet (Baby Ballet & NZAMD)
Pre-School and Toddler classes introduce classical ballet in a fun and caring atmosphere. Through the use of props and music pre-school classes are a way for children to engage in social interaction and develop coordination. Our professional teachers are there to encourage and assist the students in developing their musicality and creativity.
Revolution Dance Academy will be offering ballet classes for students aged 5+ to learn classical ballet steps and movements. This is great for students to take the pressure off exam work and allow for expression and creativity through gaining strength, control, posture, balance and flexibility. Ballet is a fantastic genre for confidence, focus, determination and discipline.
In 2024 from age 5+ we will follow the NZAMD Examination Syllabus. The NZAMD Ballet syllabus is designed to allow students to progress without pressure, the length of the lower grades making it attractive for the once a week student, as well as being progressively challenging for the more committed student.
We encourage the development of strong musicality and expressive port de bras with dynamics and energy throughout the allegro section.

Jazz (NZAMD)
Jazz dance developed from both 19th- and 20th-century stage dance and is one of the longest standing dance styles beginning in America. Internationally Jazz can be seen in musical theatre productions. Kicks, leaps and turns are very common in this exciting style, jazz is not only fun to do, but fun to watch.
Revolution Dance Academy will be offering open Jazz classes for students aged 5+ to learn traditional foundational jazz movements and extend dancers repertoire. This is great for students to take the pressure off exam work and allow for expression and creativity through gaining strength, control, posture, balance and flexibility.
In 2023 from age 5+ we will follow the NZAMD jazz syllabus and offer assessments and examinations classes to encourage and inspire our jazz dancers.
The NZAMD American Jazz is an exciting syllabus choreographed by Keith Clifton of the USA and is suitable for students of all ages. The syllabus is designed with comprehensive warm-ups, stretches, floor work, progressions from corners with turns, kicks and jumps and fun combinations. Dance examples are provided for all levels, or teachers may choreograph their own
Contemporary (NZAMD)
Contemporary dance encourages students from 9+ to connect their mind and body to movement. Teaching students to understand the concepts of contemporary movement such as weight, flow, momentum, and the use of gravity, they continue to enjoy a sense of dance while focusing on freedom of movement and spatial awareness.

Choreographed by Ann Dewey, Revolution Dance Academy will be teaching the NZAMD Contemporary syllabus and offering open classes to further extend contemporary dance technique. Our highly trained professional teachers are phenomenal contemporary dancers that ensure the best technical training and introduce creativity through the various contemporary dance styles.
Tap (NZAMD)
Choreographed by Keith Clifton (USA) the NZAMD American Tap offers students and teachers the necessary training and progression to become an accomplished tap dancer.

The American Tap consists of barre work, centre work, and set or teachers’ own choreographed dances. Keith Clifton’s choreography develops an exciting rhythmical array of beats throughout the levels, taking NZAMD tap well into the 21st century.
Hiphop (Open)
This dance class provides a structured method of learning hip hop dance movements in a fun-filled and social environment.
